Art Meets Fashion

A friend of mine called me a few weeks ago and told me about this show he was going to be making some work for. The more I heard the more I liked it. I took a ride to check out the space and meet the person organizing the event.  After five minutes of talking with Ashley Sexton from A Cut Beyond, I knew I was in. I was officially signed up to photograph the event, but I was still unsure about what, or if, I would display. After a few pep talks from the other artists involved, it was on. The next week or so was one of those clouds that surround a cartoon character while they furiously work, and when the cloud settles there is a shiny finished product. This cloud was comprised of sawdust, spray paint, photographs, Red Bull and epoxy resin. It was the catalyst I needed to finish some projects that had been started, show some projects that had been finished, and to attack some ideas I had been sitting on.

Art Meets Fashion was an event held at A Cut Beyond hair salon. It was intended to bring creative minds together to raise money for the arts program in the Randolph school system. Several artists displayed their work, a fashion designer featured her clothes, and all the models hair and makeup  was done at the salon. There was a runway show to feature the hair, makeup, jewelry and clothes with a live DJ throwin it down. Everyone helped in the hanging of the art salon style (pun intended), and we were all psyched to be a part of this event together. Both before and after the runway show we went out back and had an impromptu photo shoot with the models showing off the jewelry while wearing black shirts and jeans, and then again rocking the nights featured looks. All the models were super fun, totally laid back and rocked it despite the cold. Throw in a keg of beer, some live music and a great turnout and you have yourselves a rockin night.

A big thank you to Brian Edson for bringing me in on this, to Ashley Sexton for having this event, to Vasco Vaz for being the ever upbeat positive cat that he is, to Barbara Claire for being funny as hell, to all the models for having fun with it, and to everyone else who was a part of throwing this event. Another big thanks to anyone who came out to support us. Hopefully the first of many.

presenting Sonjamin Franklin…..

Sonjamin Franklin is where it’s at. Lance McGrath is the momentum behind a Tshirt idea that as been in the works for some time.  When the shirts came in we got down on a little photo shoot to promote their release at the Art Meets Fashion event that coming week. We gathered up a couple of rock star models that were willing to rock just a T even though it was windy and cold as hell. Big ups to Martin and Lauren for being troopers. Lance doesn’t get a shout out for being a trooper because,  T shirt or not, that beard keeps him warm all winter.  Keep your eyes peeled for this design and be sure to stay tuned to see what comes next.
